Everyone who travels knows beforehand the importance of carrying little luggage because it is one of the ways you can save money when you travel.

Nowadays, many tourists travel with light luggage, in other words, they carry only what they really need so that everything can be reached inside a small suitcase or backpack and yet, they enjoy a wonderful vacation.

Many people consider that traveling with little is even better because you will feel calmer, less stressed and travel more rested without having to worry about where your luggage is.

There are several advantages that the tourist has when he decides to travel light, in the first place, it is cheaper because you will not have to pay any extra amount for carrying extra luggage.

Another reason is that when you do not carry a large amount of baggage, you can avoid long lines at the counters and go directly to the security checkpoint, you can forget the luggage bands and save the stress of looking for it.

Most travelers carry much more than they really need, and these things usually fill the suitcases, when in fact they aren’t needed.

Things You Should Not Forget When Traveling Light

The best thing you can do is a list where you include only the essential and necessary items that you’re going to use, which can also be easily reached in a handbag or backpack.

The main objective is to create a list that covers the personal needs of any standard trip.

There are some basic things that are very important that you shouldn’t forget if you have decided to travel light, 6 of them are:

  1. Suitcase

To have the best vacations of your life traveling light, packing must start with a good suitcase.

When it’s time to look for a suitcase, it’s important to keep in mind that a 22-inch wheeled suitcase is generally considered lightweight if it weighs less than 10 pounds.

There are many suitcase manufacturers who even offer fewer inches for comfort.

When it comes to choosing, it’s important to observe and make sure you have enough pockets or compartments where you can store things to keep you more organized.

Whichever suitcase you choose, make sure you have enough pockets and compartments to help you stay organized, and that it’s as spacious as possible without exceeding your airline’s size requirements.

  1. Clothing

Clothing is obviously important, but an excess of items won’t help.

If you need to wear heavy clothing, the best you can do is travel with them since the beginning in order to have more space in the suitcase.

You can also apply the rule of 3 for your clothes, which means that you will carry, for example, 3 pairs of socks and underwear so that, you can wash one and use the other while the last one dries.

Putting things right in your luggage is one of the most important tasks when packing.

In general, it is better to put the heaviest clothes on the bottom, place footwear in individual bags and the final secret; to roll up all the clothes in the shape of tube to avoid wrinkles and also to occupy the smallest possible space.

  1. Shoes

Ideally, you should only take a pair of shoes that are comfortable, that you can wear at all times, and that won’t hurt your feet if you have to walk long distances.

This is the best way to save some space so you can pack more needed items.  If you’re traveling to a beach, for example, it’s important to include a pair of comfortable sandals in your luggage.

You always need to remember that unless it is for a specific special occasion, all of your shoes must be multipurpose.

  1. Personal Care Items

Take with you only what you need, the deodorant, the toothbrush and your toothpaste, obviously, if you need to take some kind of medicine you will have to pack it.

In general, all the hotels where you go will offer shampoo and rinse, as well as body and hand soaps, so these products can stay at home.

  1. Personal documents

You can’t go on a trip without them.

Never forget to pack all your personal documents, your passport, your identity card, permits, medical condition in case of illness.

Always remember to also pack your credit cards, and before the trip, make sure in your bank that these cards can be used internationally.

  1. Electronic devices

Travelling with the right electronic devices that you will need during your trip is important in order to save weight and space.

An electronic reader if you are a book lover or a tablet weighs only between eight ounces and a pound, which will help you save a lot of space.

In addition, when you use this type of electronics you have the advantage that you can download before the trip a number of additional useful applications such as travel applications that can help you during your vacation.

Of course, don’t forget the charger.

Before you are satisfied with your suitcase, check it and ask again if you are going to use everything you have in it.

And as a last step, weigh it to avoid overcharges by airlines, especially low-cost airlines because they are usually quite strict.

You can use one of these baggage scales if you want to weigh it correctly and then, get ready to enjoy the best holidays in your life.
